BROWN BUTTER APPLE CRISP

INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup, plus 2 tablespoons butter
- 3/4 cup, plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup old fashioned oats
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup Chopped Pecans
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6 medium-sized Honey crisp apples peeled, cored, and cut into 1/2-inch wedges
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degree F. Butter an 9x9 baking dish.
Make the browned butter: In a small saucepan, heat butter on medium for 2 to 3 minutes, or until browned and fragrant, swirling often. Remove from heat.
In a medium bowl, combine 3/4 cup flour, oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, pecans, and salt. Pour in 1/2 cup of the browned butter and stir until the mixture becomes crumbly and looks like wet sand.
In a large bowl, place apples, remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar, remaining 2 tablespoons browned butter, 2 tablespoons flour and cinnamon in a large bowl and toss to combine. Pour mixture into the baking dish.
Sprinkle topping evenly over the fruit and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until lightly browned and bubbly around the edges (cover loosely with foil during baking if the topping begins to brown too much). Let sit for 15 minutes before serving with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, as desired
