
CHOPPED STEAK WITH CARAMELIZED ONION GRAVY



INGREDIENTS
- 1 93% lean pound lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup Ultragrain® All Purpose Flour
- 3 flat-leaf tablespoons finely chopped fresh Italian
- 2 tablespoons dry unseasoned bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon Pure Wesson® Canola Oil
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced thin
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup brandy
- 2 cups beef stock
DIRECTIONS
To make Steak, mix ground beef, flour, parsley, bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, egg, shallot, garlic, salt and pepper in large bowl. Shape mixture into 4 patties (1/2 inch thick); set aside.
Heat butter and oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add patties; cook 10 minutes, turning once, or until browned and cooked through. Transfer patties to serving plates; set aside.
To make Gravy, add butter to skillet. Add onion, thyme, salt and pepper; cook 12 minutes or until onion is caramelized, stirring occasionally. Add flour; stir until smooth. Add brandy and stir, scraping up any browned bits from bottom of pan. Add stock; stir until smooth. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat and cook 10 minutes or until gravy is reduced and thickened. Spoon gravy over patties.
Serve with ALEXIA® OVEN RED POTATOES, prepared according to package directions.
