SAUSAGE & ONION PIZZA

Serves : 6 servings

INGREDIENTS
  • 3 tablespoons 100% pure olive oil
  • 2 cups sliced sweet yellow onions
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 3/4 cup half & half
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh sage leaves divided
  • 1/2 pound bulk mild Italian sausage
  • 1 13.8 ounce package refrigerated pizza crust dough
  • 1 cup fancy shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup Culinary Circle Crumbled Goat Cheese or Gorgonzola cheese

DIRECTIONS

In large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic; sauté until onions are soften (about 4 minutes). Reduce heat; continue sautéing until caramelized (about 10-12 minutes).

Add half & half and 1 tablespoon sage; salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 5 minutes or until sauce has thickened.

Meanwhile in medium skillet over medium-high heat, cook and crumble sausage until no longer pink (about 6-8 minutes). Drain and set aside.

Prepare pizza dough according to crispier crust package directions; top with caramelized onion mixture, sausage and cheeses. Continue baking according to package directions.

Remove from oven and top with remaining sage.
